Who it suits
Anyone who wants to understand Hiroshima's history and see the hopeful city of today.
Highlights
The Atomic Bomb Dome, the Peace Memorial Museum and park, Orizuru Tower and Shukkeien garden.
Local flavors
Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki with noodles, and oysters – the city's two great specialties.

Hiroshima Station
The journey begins at Hiroshima Station. From here we take the streetcar to the Peace Park area. The city's efficient tram system has operated continuously since before the bombing.

Orizuru Tower
40 minFrom the open-air observation deck of Orizuru Tower, you get a panoramic view over Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome below. Inside, you can fold your own paper crane and drop it down through a glass spiral—joining thousands of others as a symbol of peace.

Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome)
30 minThe skeletal remains of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, directly below the bomb's hypocenter. Preserved exactly as it appeared after August 6, 1945, this UNESCO World Heritage site stands as the world's most powerful symbol of nuclear devastation—and humanity's hope for peace.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
1.5 hoursThe museum tells the story of August 6, 1945, through personal artifacts, photographs, and testimonies from survivors (hibakusha). I will guide you with sensitivity, allowing time for reflection. The experience is profound but essential for understanding Hiroshima's message to the world.

Peace Memorial Park
1 hourWalk through the memorial park, passing the Peace Flame (burning since 1964, to be extinguished only when all nuclear weapons are eliminated), the Memorial Cenotaph (framing the A-Bomb Dome), and the Children's Peace Monument, covered in colorful paper cranes.

Lunch in Hiroshima
1 hourWe move from reflection to renewal with lunch in vibrant downtown Hiroshima. The city is famous for its own style of okonomiyaki, with layers of noodles added to the savory pancake. The lively atmosphere shows how Hiroshima has rebuilt itself.

Shukkeien Garden
45 minThis beautiful traditional garden, originally created in 1620, was destroyed by the bombing but carefully restored. The name means 'shrunken scenery'—the design recreates famous landscapes in miniature. Walking here offers peaceful contrast to the morning's solemnity.

Hiroshima Station
Our journey concludes back at Hiroshima Station. Hiroshima's transformation from tragedy to hope, from destruction to vibrant city, is one of humanity's most inspiring stories.
